" I've heard people tell me they've studied English
for years and don't know how to speak. I've come across non-native English teachers that feel they don't have enough confidence to speak English to natives. I've heard, time and again, people saying they travel abroad and feel they can't communicate in English because they get lost in the conversation. All this is due to lack of practice and not because they don't know the language. My objective is to create an environment where only English is spoken so that all participants have the chance to conquer their "fear of speech" barrier that limits their oral skills." Prof. Michelle Martoglio | Objective With more than 16 years of teaching experience in the ESL field Prof. Martoglio creates environments in English where anyone can practice their oral skills and gain confidence. A bit of history
Background
AEPI (American English Private Institute) was founded in 1993 by Prof. Michelle Martoglio. AEPI has now turned its focus towards specializing in adult immersion programs and as of 2008 has been renamed EIPA (English Immersion Program for Adults)
Prof. Martoglio was born in Toronto Canada and graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. In 1993 Prof. Martoglio opened AEPI in La Perdices, Cba. Her objective was to teach English without the constant use of books given her view was that pronunciation and fluency were the number one priority in learning a language. With this in mind Prof. Martoglio was able to create a teaching environment where her students could speak and converse in English in a short period of time helping them gain confidence and not depending on written structures. In January of 1997 Prof. Martoglio travelled to Denver, Colorado USA with some of her more advanced teenage students. They attended the Bridge International School of Language (now called Bridge-Linguatech) for a month and were able to further expand their English knowledge. While her students attended classes at the school, Prof. Martoglio taught English as a Second Language at the Bridge International to other ESL students for 3 consecutive year
Trips to Denver were carried out every January until 2001, year in which Prof. Martoglio moved to Toronto in August. In September 2007 Prof. Martoglio moved back to Argentina and is now living in Villa Maria, Cba. with her husband and two children.
